Who we are?

ESDES is a high school of Spanish for foreigners at university and high school level, located in the Campus Adventista de Sagunto. 

It is a school with a Christian philosophy of education and receives students from all over the world, especially from the United States.

Mission

To train foreign students to communicate effectively in Spanish as a second language within the framework of an education in Christian values, in such a way that they can influence society by developing a competent, responsible, professional and Christian service.

Vision

To be a linguistically and culturally attractive program that offers students the opportunity to learn Spanish as a foreign language, while at the same time discovering the diverse cultures in which they are integrated, acquiring a better understanding of the globalized world in which we live.

We are associated with the ACA (Adventist Colleges Abroad) consortium, formed by fourteen universities in the USA, whose students stay at our school learning and perfecting the different competencies and skills of Spanish, as well as Spanish and European culture.

In addition, we are also associated with the sdalanguages.eu consortium, which includes the main Adventist schools and universities in Europe.

Our History

1968-1969. First group of North American students studying in the Spanish for Foreigners program at the Sagunto Adventist Campus, based in Valencia at that time. The students came from Pacific Union College (California).

1970. Creation in North America of the Adventist Colleges Abroad consortium to send American students to study in different parts of the world, including our school.

1974. The Sagunto Adventist Campus is inaugurated in its current location and the Spanish program is renamed LCH: Lengua y Cultura Hispánicas.

1993. Students in our program take the DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) exam for the first time at the University of Valencia.

2004. ESDES participates in the creation of the international association of language schools SDALanguages Europe.

2005. ESDES receives for the first time the accreditation of the University of Alcalá de Henares through its quality seal CEELE (Quality in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language).

2013. ESDES signs a collaboration agreement with Cursos Internacionales de la Universidad de Salamanca (CIUSAL) to become an examination center for the BULATS (Business Language Testing Service) exam.

2016. ESDES becomes an examining center for the SIELE exam (Sistema Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española). www.siele.org.

2021. ESDES obtains the accreditation of the Cervantes Institute and becomes, in addition, an examination center for DELE and CCSE
